(Day 4) Today, I thought I’d share an image from my favorite painter, J.W. Waterhouse. I chose this one, “The Magic Circle”, not because it is my favorite of his, but to stay with the theme. I do like it, though. The Wiki page says it’s in the Tate in London. I was there about 20 years ago and don’t remember it, and I would have seen it if it was there. That was also the first year we went out to his old studio near Primrose Hill. It must have been on loan (or perhaps they acquired it later).
What we did see on that trip to the Tate was “The Lady of Shalott”…
Talk about striking! We, or at least I, almost fell out. It was HUGE! And the colours… no print or photograph can possibly do it justice.
We’ve been back to Primrose Hill once since for another picnic. I was going to set a scene from my book there, but it wasn’t quite a park yet at the time—still a Royal chase.
