My Third Book is now in Production!

(5/30/24)

“May” this picture serve as my funny little hint!

I like how she seems to be breaking the fourth wall as if to say, “Mr. Goates, what are you doing? You can’t do that!”

For those out there who know who she is and/or where that picture is from, you could be in for a treat this year once all is said and done. Of course, you might also hate my third book but, either way, you’ll react. How could you not to such an idea in the face of this modern age?

I’m still not ready to spill yet. This time, I’ll try something different: a little stunt to see if I can drum up some pre-release buzz.

Here’s where we are:

The manuscript’s already been copyrighted and edited to within an inch of its life. As ready as it’s ever gonna be, it’s already being formatted. And remember when I said I had no clue about a cover? I finally hatched a real concept! A pro designer is already working on that as well to really flash it up. I think it’ll look really smart for a book set in the nineteenth century.

I may within a month have something to show, but probably not any sooner. When the cover’s been finalized I’ll show it and then reveal the teaser text. I thought about releasing the title today, but think I’ll hold that too. Sorry for so little info after these past two months in the dark. I will say it’s going to be a hardcover, though, complete with a dustjacket in 6×9 inch trade just like A Witch’s Burden. [EDIT: (7/11/24) The formatting particulars are back in the air at the moment, but I’ll be sure and let you know more as soon as I know more myself.] I considered a digest, which might’ve been cute, like a little book of poetry. It is only a novella after all, but still kinda beefy. Included after the 40K word story is an extensive author’s historical note and even a little bibliography. In the end, I decided that the type would be too small for young readers in the smaller format.

I do have one more bit of news… I put in a request to reduce the price of my first eBook. It’s not a big change, but will make it a tad more affordable.

Tschüss. Keep praying for peace.

P.S. (EDIT: 7/9/24) Just as peace failed to come, so too my book has been delayed. I’ll have A LOT more to say on this amidst the coming days.
