“A Witch’s Burden by D.W. Goates is a well-researched book. The Germany of those days was a series of separate kingdoms and duchies. If readers get the feeling that the author has been to and lived in Germany, it is true, and he uses his personal knowledge of the country and its history to good effect, bringing to life a time period long past. Gothic, yes, but unfailingly readable. D.W. Goates is a good storyteller. Readers will also love and appreciate the fact that Elke is not helpless. She demonstrates a spunky resolve to get what she sets her mind to achieve and to survive as well when the story takes a perilous turn. This is a satisfying romantic adventure that is well worth readers’ time. A great read and a convincingly told story.” — Reviewed By A. L. Peevey for Readers’ Favorite
Bold emphasis mine. You will be able to read the full review beneath the book listing on the Readers’ Favorite website once the Amazon 10-digit ISBN/ASIN is assigned (basically, once Amazon has constructed their book page).
This review was a welcome surprise, actually; I neither solicited nor paid for the pleasure—it came as a result of my entry in the 2019 Readers’ Favorite International Book Award Contest. As I understand it, reviewers with Readers’ Favorite may peruse the titles on submission and offer a review on any that strike their fancy. I don’t believe one has to even enter the contest either to potentially garner a review; it just so happens that that was why my manuscript was available. Anyway, wish me luck in the contest! I worked very hard on this book. They will announce the category winners this September.
I’ve got my eye on a few more contests as well… I’ll keep you posted.
